Super Friday at Formula 1 Heineken Dutch Grand Prix has already achieved cult status

The Super Friday of the F1 Heineken Dutch Grand Prix has already achieved cult status in four years. Today the Fanzone at the Zandvoort circuit filled up for the Opening Show featuring Q&A’s with the drivers and a smashing kickoff by Snollebollekes. The Closing Party tonight promises even more spectacle.

Weather or no weather, it in no way affects the popularity of the side-acts at the Dutch Grand Prix on the eve of the race weekend. Super Friday has become a household word. The public comes to Zandvoort on this day. Not only for the Formula 1 free practice sessions, but also for the entertainment.

Tequila party

At the Opening Show this morning in the Fanzone, the F1 drivers were once again feasting their eyes. The square in front of the stage was packed with thousands of fans. “Great weather, nah?”, Max Verstappen briefly polled the mood in front of him. “Nice that you guys are here.” Back-to-back Daniel Ricciardo and Yuki Tsunoda (RB), Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez (Red Bull), Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll (Aston Martin), Alexander Albon and Logan Sargeant (Williams), Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri (McLaren) and Valtteri Bottas and Guanyu Zhou (Kick Sauber) were quizzed by host Ariana Bravo. About this and that and serious matters, such as weather conditions. The most striking thing Max Verstappen had heard about his teammate Checo’s summer break? “He seems to have had a heavy Tequila party,” he said.

Lando’s mother

Lando Norris even spotted his mother in the audience during the Q&A. “I didn’t know she was going to be here,” was the astonished reaction of the McLaren driver, who waved to his mother. “Great to be back,” opened Fernando Alonso, eliciting loud cheers from the fans. After the Q&A, Rob Kemps and the Snollebollekes took over the stage. The now internationally renowned party act got the fans moving even more. For Kemps, it was a separate sensation, he said afterwards. “I have never set the alarm clock at 7 a.m. for a performance in the morning. Usually the party doesn’t start until 11 at night. I’ve been on many stages, but this is really special. The fact that everyone is already hopping at this hour is very special.”

Potential

As an entertainer, Kemps can appreciate the potential of Super Friday. “It’s the total package. As long as you offer enough, you make it attractive, as is happening here. The carnival in Brabant was also once only three days and now five.”

Super Friday concludes tonight with the Closing Party (8:30 p.m.) in the same Fanzone. Then DI-RECT will perform and DJ Armin van Buuren including a magisterial drone show will provide an unparalleled end to the day. Tickets for the next Super Friday can already be purchased. The Dutch Grand Prix has opened the ticket shop for the Formula 1 Heineken Dutch Grand Prix 2025 from today until August 31. Buy your tickets for 2025.
