The Formula 1 Heineken Dutch Grand Prix was a great success in 2021, 2022 & 2023. That success is partly thanks to the commitment and enjoyment of many volunteers who are always referred to as ‘EventMakers’ for their indispensable assistance. On Saturday 27 August 2022, a large group of 1,500 of these enthusiasts gathered for a final briefing, for their clothing kit from Mascot Workwear and an inspiring story by Jan Lammers.
In the morning, general manager Robert van Overdijk warmly welcomed all people on behalf of the entire organisation and highlighted the importance of all Eventmakers. Rick Winkelman then asked Jan Lammers to tell something about his inspiring life with fantastic stories about his adventures as a Zandvoorter in Formula 1.
After the handover of clothing, offered by VolkerWessels, all EventMakers were treated to a Circuit Zandvoort tour, with a Pit Lane walk and a walk through the paddock area, being experienced as very special.
Carlijn Spaaij is volunteer manager of all Formula 1 Heineken Dutch Grand Prix EventMakers. “It was another great day. So nice to see a lot of people coming for the second time. People who got to know each other for the first time last year and have now requested to be grouped again. They have become groups of friends. The enthusiasm is contagious, a special group.”
A large part of these Eventmakers are also employees of Event Supporter VolkerWessels This is a group of hundreds of enthusiastic VolkerWessels colleagues who, in addition to their daily work as a contractor, work planners, branch directors or receptionists, volunteer at the circuit for three days during the Dutch Grand Prix.
